USI program exploring intentional communities
|
The University of Southern Indiana Center for Communal Studies Lecture Series will present “Visions of Utopia: Current Experiments in Sustainable Living” March 27 in rooms 201-202 of the University Center. The program, a documentary video and discussion by Geoph Kozeny, will begin at 7 p.m. It is free and open to the public. Kozeny, a communitarian, author, and video producer, has visited more than 350 contemporary communities in the past 15 years. While visiting, he participated in the daily routine and documented each community’s vision and daily life. His Visions of Utopia documentary offers insight into spiritual communities, rural egalitarian communities, urban communities, cooperative communities, and cohousing and ecovillages across the nation. Very active in the work of the Fellowship for Intentional Community, Kozeny was instrumental in creating its “Communities Directory” and in reviving Communities, a magazine that he regularly contributes to as a columnist.
