USI Day at the Zoo on April 26, 2003

Zoo animal exhibits, animal crafts for children, and refreshments will be part of the fun at Mesker Park Zoo and Botanical Garden for USI Day at the Zoo on Saturday, April 26, 2003. The event, sponsored by the USI Alumni Association, is open to USI alumni, students, employees, and their families. Zoo staff will have small animals for the children to observe and pet. Children-oriented crafts will be offered with the help of Joseph Uduehi, assistant professor of art education, and members of Delta Zeta sorority. These USI activities will take place in an outdoor tent on the zoo grounds. Mesker Park Zoo has 70 acres of botanic gardens with 300 animals representing 200 different species. Visitors can feed a giraffe or walk through an animal exhibit in the African rift. The Children’s Enchanted Forest offers a petting zoo, animal exhibits, and a playground. USI Day at the Zoo begins at 10 a.m. and continues to 3 p.m. Zoo hours are 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. and the entrance group-admission charge is $4.50 for adults and $3.50 for children ages 3 and up.
