|
Sarah Banks, a senior math major at the University of Southern Indiana, has been awarded a $2,000 Armed Forces Communications and Electronics Association (AFCEA) academic scholarship for the fall 2003 semester. The scholarship is awarded to cadets majoring in math, computers, or the sciences. Banks is from Corydon, Indiana, and she is the daughter of Steve and Dawn Banks. She is a graduate of Corydon Central High School, and she works part-time in the Office of Institutional Research at USI. Banks was nominated for the scholarship by Major Mark Weaver, USI assistant professor of military science, ROTC and biology. Banks, a cadet second lieutenant, is a member of the 76 HHC Brigade of Indianapolis and is a member of the ROTC Simultaneous Membership Program. The simultaneous program allows students to participate in the National Guard and ROTC. Banks, who has been a member of the program since fall 2002, said, “I enjoy it. It has been a good experience learning about the military and myself as well.” Banks, who will be married this August, plans to remain in the National Guard. |
