Senior awarded leadership internship

University of Southern Indiana senior Bethany Shafer of Plainville, Indiana, is one of 10 students chosen from universities throughout Indiana for a distinguished summer internship program in Indianapolis. Sponsored by Indiana INTERNnet, the program is designed to connect leaders of Indiana industry, government, nonprofit organizations, and higher education institutions with outstanding college students. Indiana INTERNnet is a program of the Greater Indianapolis Chamber of Commerce, University of Indianapolis, and other colleges and universities in Indiana. Shafer and the other interns already have met Tony Dungy, head coach of the Indianapolis Colts; Barbara Henry, publisher of the Indianapolis Star; Larry Glasscock, chief executive officer of Anthem Blue Cross Blue Shield, and Lt. Governor Joseph Kernan. Shafer also is completing an accounting internship this summer at Defense Finance and Accounting Service in Indianapolis. She is the daughter of Terry and Tonya Shafer of Plainville, and the granddaughter of Evelyn Krutsinger of Washington, Indiana, and Gerrie and Sharon Shafer of Odon, Indiana. A graduate of North Daviess Jr. Sr. High, Shafer is an accounting and professional service major at USI. She is a student member of the CPA Society, and she will serve on the Accounting Student Advisory committee this fall. She is regularly listed on the dean’s list and will graduate in December 2003. |
