Learn about wildflowers at USI

University of Southern Indiana Extended Services will offer Wildflower Wonders, a class on flower identification and folklore, in September. Course information follows: Wildflower Wonders Who is this Joe Pye guy a flower is named after? How can a person tell those confusing fall asters apart? This class on wildflower identification and folklore is for amateurs as well as seasoned botanists. Topics include the fascinating stories behind wildflower names and uses, how to use wildflower identification keys, and unusual features of selected families. The class will include an easy walking field trip to identify live local species and practice new skills. Instructor: Lois Mittino Gray, teacher, New Harmony High School. Dates and times: Two Wednesdays, September 10 and 17, 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Field Trip: Saturday, September 13, 9 a.m. to noon. Location: USI Health Professions Center, Room 1006. Registration Fee: $65.
