House and Senate seek interns
|
Representatives of the Indiana House and Senate are on campus today and Tuesday, September 23 to recruit applicants for spring internships in the Statehouse in Indianapolis. The internships are open to college juniors, seniors, graduates, and some sophomores. All majors may apply, but the successful candidate must possess excellent communication and writing skills, a professional attitude, and must enthusiastically want to learn about government and politics in the real world. Pam Doerter, coordinator of internships and co-op education, said the selected interns receive school credit and maintain full-time status with the University. She added, “Many of our students who have worked these internships continued on to law school or were offered positions in Indiana government.” The pay is $275 per week. Students will be placed in legislative services, computer services, public relations, fiscal policy, member services division, communications division, and computer/technology. Students interested in applying for the internships can visit representatives at a registration table at noon today on the first floor of the Liberal Arts Center. At noon on Tuesday, September 23, representatives will be in the lobby of the Orr Center. Questions about the internships can be directed to Doerter in Career Services at 464-1865. |
