USI welcomes new employees

Dr. Scott Granberg-Rademacker, Newburgh, has accepted the position of assistant professor of political science at University of Southern Indiana. Formerly a resident of Cedar Falls, Iowa, he previously worked as a visiting professor at University of Northern Iowa and as a graduate teaching assistant at University of Nebraska, where he earned a Ph.D. in 2002, an M.A., and a B.A. He is a member of the American Political Science Association and the Southern Political Science Association. Jim Kamla, Evansville, has accepted the position of instructor in physical education at University of Southern Indiana. Formerly a resident of Albuquerque, N.M., he previously worked as a teaching assistant at University of New Mexico and as a physical education teacher, coach, and athletic director at Chicago City Day School. He anticipates receiving his Ph.D. from University of New Mexico in 2004 and holds an M.S. from University of Wisconsin-LaCrosse and a B.A. from Luther College in Iowa. He is a member of the American Alliance of Health, Physical Education, and Dance, and the New Mexico Alliance of Health, Physical Education, and Dance. Kara M. Pike, Evansville, has accepted the position of program coordinator of International Programs and Services at University of Southern Indiana. A native of Kenai, Alaska, she holds an M.A. in international affairs from Ohio University and is a summa cum laude graduate of University of Evansville, where she earned a B.A. in international studies, Spanish, and mass communication. Dr. LeeAnn S. Sinclair, Evansville, has accepted the position of teacher in residence in the Department of Teacher Education at University of Southern Indiana. A former resident of Columbia, Mo., she taught reading/writing workshop classes at Jefferson Junior High School and was an adjunct instructor at Columbia College and William Woods University. Prior to that, she was an assistant professor of education at Washburn University in Topeka, Kan., and at Grand Canyon University in Phoenix. She previously worked as literary arts facilitator at Brown Academy for Classical Studies in Chattanooga, Tenn., and taught elementary Title I reading in Arizona, where she also worked with developmental literacy at community colleges. She holds an Ed.D. in reading education from University of Missouri-Columbia and an M.S. in reading education from Indiana University-Bloomington. A member of the National Council of Teachers of English, she also is a member of the International Reading Association, the Whole Language Umbrella, and Phi Delta Kappa. Dr. Wendy Turner, Evansville, has accepted the position of assistant professor of social work at University of Southern Indiana. A former resident of Louisville, Ky., she previously worked as an assistant professor at Spalding University. She holds a Ph.D. and M.S.W. from Ohio State University and a B.S.W. from Valparaiso University. Dr. Shannon R. Wooden, Evansville, has accepted the position of assistant professor of English at University of Southern Indiana. Formerly a resident of Carlisle, Pa., she previously worked as a visiting assistant professor at Shippensburg University, a senior teaching fellow at University of North Carolina School of Medicine, and a teaching fellow at University of North Carolina. She earned a Ph.D. in English at University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill in 2000 and holds an M.A. and a B.A. from Southwest Missouri State University. She earned the 2001 Dougald A. McMillan Award for Best Dissertation in the University of North Carolina English Department and is a member of the Modern Language Association, British Women Writers Association, and Victorians Institute. |
