Greek recruitment speaker
|
A national consultant to Greek councils and chapters will speak to University of Southern Indiana fraternities and sororities October 19. David Stollman’s presentation, focusing on recruitment, will begin at 7 p.m. in Mitchell Auditorium in the Health Professions Center. Advisors of USI Greek organizations and other interested USI faculty and staff also are invited to attend. According to Stollman, Greek organizations need to change their recruitment methods to fit today’s changing student. His motto: “Recruit, follow, or get out of the way!” After serving on the staff of the National Interfraternity Conference for two years, he continued working with fraternity chapters, national organizations, and Greek councils. With his help, chapters have quadrupled their memberships and increased their bid acceptance by more than 50 percent. Risk management, hazing, and new member education are part of Stollman’s holistic approach to fraternity and sorority excellence. “Chapters have to be ready to do things differently and accept change in order to prosper,” Stollman said. He has spoken on more than 250 campuses, served on the faculty of numerous university and fraternal leadership conferences, and remains an active volunteer with his fraternity, Sigma Phi Epsilon. Stollman also is cofounder of CAMPUSPEAK, a Colorado agency providing issue-based speakers to college campuses across the United States. He holds undergraduate degrees in government and communication from University of Maryland and a master’s in political science from Villanova University. |
