Box City to raise awareness of the homeless
|
On Thursday, October 16, the University of Southern Indiana’s Student Housing Association will sponsor Box City to raise local awareness of the plight of the homeless. At 7 p.m., participants will bring donations of winter clothing, blankets, or canned goods in exchange for a cardboard box. The box will serve as a house for the next 12 hours. Students will sleep in the boxes through the night and will eat meals from a soup kitchen. Ms. Ann Ennis, Habitat of Evansville, will discuss issues regarding the homeless. Box City, also sponsored by USI’s Habitat for Humanity and Religious Life, will take place at the McDonald West Recreation Room at the University of Southern Indiana. |
