USI diversity programs highlighting Native Americans
|
University of Southern Indiana’s celebration of CommUNITY month will conclude with two programs about Native American Indians in November. “What is a Real Indian – More than Beads, Feathers, and Tradition?” will be presented at 6 p.m. Wednesday, November 5, in Mitchell Auditorium in the Health Professions Center on the USI campus. The panel discussion featuring local community members representing five tribes is being sponsored by USI’s Multicultural Center and the American Indian Center of Indiana Inc. On November 12, Mike Linderman, property manager of Angel Mounds, will deliver “On the Road with Angel Mounds” at 6 p.m. in rooms 201-202 of the University Center. The Multicultural Center and Angel Mounds are sponsoring the event. Located in Evansville, Angel Mounds State Historic Site is recognized nationally as one of the best-preserved prehistoric Native American sites in the United States. CommUNITY Month is a project of THREADS, USI’s first campus-wide diversity series. Both of the November Native American Indian programs are free and open to the public. |
