Scholar to discuss post-9/11 world

An author, international affairs scholar, and expert in policy analysis and international operations will speak at University of Southern Indiana February 12. James P. Muldoon Jr., senior fellow with the Center for Global Change and Governance of Rutgers University-Newark, will present “Order and Governance in the Age of Terrorism – The Role of International Organizations in the Post-9/11 World” at 7 p.m. in Kleymeyer Hall in the Liberal Arts Center. In addition to lecturing widely on the United Nations, diplomacy, and international affairs in the United States, Europe, and Asia, Muldoon has published the book, The Architecture of Global Governance: An Introduction to the Study of International Organizations, and the essay collection, Multilateral Diplomacy and the United Nations Today. He also is editing a new book, Confronting International Terrorism: The View from China, which is forthcoming from Lynne Rienner Publishers. He is co-editor of Multilateral Diplomacy and the United Nations Today and has contributed to numerous major newspapers and academic journals. In his role as senior fellow, Muldoon conducts research on international diplomacy and international organizations. He previously served as a senior research fellow at the Carnegie Council on Ethics and International Affairs, visiting scholar at the Shanghai Academy of Social Sciences in China, and director of Education Programs with the United Nations Association of the United States of America. A resident of Lake Forest, Ill., he holds an M.A. in political science from Miami University-Ohio and a B.A. from St. Louis University. Muldoon’s free presentation will be followed by a question-and-answer period and book signing. The USI School of Liberal Arts and International Studies are sponsoring the event. |
