Black history events at USI

University of Southern Indiana will begin celebrating Black History Month February 2. Events on campus will include: February 2 - Black History Month Kick-off Reception, 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., University Center, Rooms 201-202. The event will feature display tables organized by the Black Student Union and refreshments. Sponsors: BSU and the Multicultural Center. February 7 – Multicultural Center Anniversary and African American Graduates Reunion. EVENT POSTPONED. February 25 – Author Daryl Davis presenting “Klan-Destine Relationships,” 8 p.m., University Center, Carter Hall. A race relations expert, Davis has received acclaim for his book, Klan-Destine Relationships, a chronicle of time on the edge, setting up surprise meetings with Klan leaders unaware of his skin color, and attending KKK rallies. Sponsors: Activities Programming Board and MCC. March 2 - IU Soul Revue, 7 to 9 p.m., University Center, Carter Hall. IU Soul Review sizzles with high energy and impeccable musicianship as it delivers R&B, soul, funk, and contemporary urban black popular music. The review features a full ensemble, male and female lines, horns, rhythm section, and at times, strings and dancers. Sponsors: BSU and MCC. USI Black History Month events are free.
