Avid reader, 96, sharing books
|
Solarbron resident Louis Schewe and Eric von Fuhrmann, USI associate professor of English, are joining forces to offer a fifth book giveaway for University of Southern Indiana students February 25. “Books belong in the hands of students who will read them and grow,” said Schewe, 96. Since their first book giveaway two years ago, Schewe and von Fuhrmann have donated more than 2,000 books from their personal libraries to USI students. An avid reader of books in all subject areas, Schewe retired from the telephone company in Wheaton, Ill., in 1960. Von Fuhrmann joined the University in 1966. The free book giveaway will take place from 10 a.m. to noon at the south entrance of the University Center. |
