Program honoring Irish writers

The RopeWalk Reading Series will celebrate St. Patrick’s Day Wednesday, March 17, when members of the USI creative writing faculty will read the poetry and prose of Irish writers including Seamus Heany, Frank O’Connor, Seamus Cashman, James Joyce, Patrick Kavavagh, and W.B. Yeats. Participating faculty will include: Jim McGarrah, assistant professor of English; Patricia Aakhus, instructor in English; Leisa Belleau, instructor in English; Matthew Graham, associate professor of English; Ronald Mitchell, instructor in English; and Tonya Northenor, instructor in English. The program also will feature Irish music performed by musicians under the direction of Daniel Craig, assistant professor of music. The free event will begin at 7 p.m. in Kleymeyer Hall in the Liberal Arts Center, and the public is invited to attend. Presented by USI’s School of Liberal Arts, the RopeWalk Reading Series is made possible through the support of RopeWalk Writers Retreat, the Southern Indiana Review, USI Society for Arts & Humanities, National Endowment for the Arts, Indiana Arts Commission, and USI Student Writers’ Union. |
