THIS LECTURE HAS BEEN CANCELLED. An expert in Greek and Roman art will deliver the 2004 USI Society of Arts & Humanities Lecture Wednesday, March 24.

Dr. Timothy McNiven’s presentation, “Significant Others in Greek Art,” will begin at 7:30 p.m. in Forum III of the Wright Administration Building on the University of Southern Indiana campus. The program is free and open to the public.

An associate professor in Ohio State University’s Department of History of Art, McNiven’s areas of interest include the use of gestures and representations of sexuality and gender in Greek art.

In addition to teaching History of Art survey courses in Western art, Western architecture, and classical archaeology, McNiven teaches classes in the Department of Greek and Latin at OSU.

He also serves as a consultant to the Department of Ancient Art at the Toledo Museum and is a member of the governing boards of the Midwest Art History Society.

The winner of the 1996 OSU Alumni Award for Distinguished Teaching, McNiven holds a Ph.D. and M.A. from University of Michigan and an A.B. from Harvard College.
