Department of Communications gains ACEJMC accreditation
|
The Accrediting Council on Education in Journalism and Mass Communications (ACEJMC), the agency responsible for the evaluation of professional journalism and mass communications programs in colleges and universities, granted accreditation to the Department of Communications at USI in April. “We are the third program in Indiana to receive this accreditation,” said Dr. Dal Herring, chair of the USI Communications Department. The other two are the School of Communications at Indiana University-Bloomington and the Department of Journalism at Ball State University. “The department had to meet ACEJMC standards of excellence,” Herring said. “The faculty and students have worked as a team to bring this together.” ACEJMC fosters and encourages excellence and high standards in professional education in journalism and mass communications. Majors in journalism, public relations and advertising, and radio and television received the accreditation. |
