Getting Ready for SAT 1

High school students (grades 9 to 12) can develop strategies and identify study priorities for the SAT 1 Reasoning Test in Getting Ready for the SAT classes offered at the University of Southern Indiana this summer. Verbal skills for the SAT 1 will be offered from 2:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. on Wednesday, June 9 in the USI Education Center, Rm. 2112. A second class will be offered from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday, July 31. Both classes will be taught by Brenda Turpin, a teacher at Harrison High School. Vocabulary development, analogies, written English, and critical reading will be covered. The registration fee for Verbal Skills is $55 and includes a meal. Math Skills for the SAT 1 will cover skill development in problem solving, working mathematical equations, and the rules pertaining to calculators. Students should bring a calculator. It will be offered from 2:30 to 8:30 p.m. on Wednesday, June 16 and from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday, July 24 in the Education Center, Rm. 2110. The fee is $55 and includes a meal. Nancy Myers, mathematics specialist at USI will conduct the class. Students who register for both courses will pay a special fee of $100.
