Live at Lincoln Amphitheatre concerts
|
After the lights come down on Young Abe Lincoln and Fiddler on the Roof, which have their final performances August 6 and 7 respectively, Lincoln Amphitheatre will present two concerts as part of a new series called “Live at Lincoln Amphitheatre.” On Friday, August 20 at 7:30 p.m., the Amphitheatre will feature Eddie Miles in “A Salute to Elvis.” According to many musicians who played with Elvis, Miles is one of the finest Elvis tribute artists in the country. Charlie Hodge, a singer who toured extensively with Elvis, said, “I have traveled far and wide, and Eddie Miles is the closest you will find to the looks and sound of Elvis.” According to DJ Fontana, Elvis’s drummer, “Eddie is one of the finest entertainers I have worked with. He looks great, sings great, and does a fantastic tribute to Elvis.” On Thursday, September 2 at 7:30 p.m., Lincoln Amphitheatre will present Rhonda Vincent and the Rage. Vincent is considered by many in bluegrass and country music to be the queen of contemporary bluegrass music. USA Today said, “Bluegrass music’s reigning female vocalist sounds like a bluegrass purist’s dream,” and the Chicago Sun Times said, “With a glorious vocal range, which acknowledges the hidden soul in bluegrass, Vincent has claimed a spot for herself as one of the few reigning women in bluegrass.” Vincent’s repertoire extends from traditional bluegrass favorites and gospel chestnuts to original songs and instrumentals with lightning-fast fiddle and mandolin licks. The International Bluegrass Music Association selected Vincent as Female Vocalist of the Year in 2000, 2001, 2002, and 2003. According to The Boston Globe, “Contemporary bluegrass doesn’t get much finer than this.” Lincoln Amphitheatre Managing Director M. Christopher Boyer said, “We’re excited about bringing both of these artists to the area. We have a great venue for live music, and we’re hoping that these concerts will be successful enough that we can add more next year.” The 1,500 seat Lincoln Amphitheatre, billed as America’s Most Beautiful Outdoor Stage, is located in Lincoln State Park in Spencer County, Indiana. The sides and back of the amphitheatre are open, but the audience and the stage are fully covered from the elements by a permanent roof – so there is never a rainout. Concert tickets are $20 each and may be purchased by calling the Lincoln Amphitheatre box office at 1-800-264-4ABE. |
