Rock Artist Gavin DeGraw live in Evansville September 2, 2004
|
Singer/songwriter Gavin DeGraw will appear in concert at 8 p.m. on Thursday, September 2, 2004, at The Centre in Evansville. His performance is sponsored by the Activities Programming Board (APB) at the University of Southern Indiana. The up and coming rock artist released his first album, Chariot, as an 11-song collection in 2003. His second album, Chariot Stripped, was released in July of this year. The second CD is a repeat of the songs on the first album from a completely new perspective, a perspective he gained while on U.S. tour performing for fans and experimenting with the material. His pop/rock sound can be compared to artists John Mayer and Jason Mraz. Gavin DeGraw’s music has been featured on television shows “One Tree Hill,” “Pepsi Smash,” “The Wayne Brady Show,” and “Live w/ Regis and Kelly.” He has been featured in People magazine. Female vocalist Toby Lightman will be a special guest of the concert. Her powerful voice that’s described as blending elements of Sheryl Crow and Lauryn Hill has earned her favorable comparisons from breakthrough artists like Alicia Keyes and Mary J. Bilge to classic singers like Joni Mitchell and Bonnie Raitt. Tickets are $7.50 for USI students with a valid USI Eagle Access card (ID), $12 for USI faculty/staff (limit two tickets at the discounted price), and $15 for general public. Tickets will go on sale August 13 at noon through Ticketmaster (812/423-7222) and at The Centre and Roberts Stadium box offices. There will be a limited number of tickets available for purchase at the information desk in the University Center on campus for USI students, faculty, and staff from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on August 26, 27, 30 and 31.
