Longtime USI employees to be honored

In 1979, University of Southern Indiana had an enrollment of 3,018 students, soccer and cross country became a part of Athletics, the Atheneum was completed in New Harmony, and Southern Indiana Higher Education Inc. announced a plan to provide student housing adjacent to campus. The year also brought five dedicated employees to the University: Cynthia S. Brinker, Pamela Hopson, Ingrid E. Lindy, Dr. Chuck Price, and Lucy Shuck, who will be honored at the Founders Day Reception Tuesday, September 14. The annual reception pays tribute to employees with 25 years of service. It will begin at 3 p.m. in the University Center’s Carter Hall. 2004 Founders Day honorees Cynthia S. Brinker Vice president for Governmental Relations Brinker joined the University as director of Personnel. She was named the Student Government Association’s 2004 Administrator of the Year and is a member of the Government Affairs Committee for the Metropolitan Evansville Chamber of Commerce, College and University Personnel Association, Evansville-Area Human Resource Association, and the Society for Human Resource Management. She earned a B.A. at DePauw University in 1973 and resides in Evansville. Pamela Hopson Director of the Multicultural Center Hopson joined the University as a financial aid assistant. The Evansville resident is a member of the Association for Black Cultural Centers and the American Association of University Women. She earned an M.P.A. at Indiana State University in 1991 and holds a B.S. in public administration from Indiana University Bloomington. Ingrid E. Lindy ’90 Manager, Human Resource Information Systems Lindy joined the University as a computer programmer I. She is a certified Professional in Human Resources and is a member of the Society for Human Resource Management and the Evansville-Area Human Resource Association. The Evansville resident holds a B.S. in computer information from USI and earned an A.A.S. in business data processing at Vincennes University. Dr. Chuck Price Professor of science education, Chair of the Department of Teacher Education Price joined the University as an assistant professor of science education and is the 1990 recipient of the Distinguished Professor Award, honoring significant achievement in teaching, scholarship, and service. The Evansville resident is a member of numerous science education, science, and education organizations. He earned a Ph.D. from The Ohio State University in 1979 and holds both an M.S.Ed. and B.S.Ed. from Eastern Illinois University. Lucy Shuck Medical research technician I in Medical Education Shuck joined the University as a medical technician I. After 25 years of service to the University, the Mount Vernon resident plans to retire later this year. |
