Distinguished Accountant Award presented

Steven F. Farrell, a partner in the Evansville firm of Gaither Rutherford & Co., has been named to receive the first USI Distinguished Accountant Award recognizing professional achievement, service to the region and/or the University, and service to the accounting profession. The award was presented September 15 at USI during the Accounting Circle Celebration, an event for USI accounting majors, faculty, and members of the Accounting Circle, an organization of senior executives in public and corporate accounting in the southwestern Indiana region. Members serve as an advisory board to USI’s accounting programs. Farrell is a founding member of the Accounting Circle and served as chair in 2002-03. He completed a bachelor’s degree in accounting at USI in 1973. At Gaither Rutherford, Farrell is director of management advisory services and litigation consulting. In addition to his accreditation as a CPA, he holds the Accredited in Business Valuation (ABV) designation awarded by the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA). Farrell is active in AICPA, the Indiana CPA Society, and the Institute of Business Appraisers. He also is involved in various youth sports organizations in the Evansville area. The USI Distinguished Accountant Award was established by the Department of Accounting and Business Law in the USI School of Business and the Accounting Circle. |
