|
A woman who brings science, medicine, psychology, and spirituality together in the service of healing will lead “Refilling the Chalice: Rejuvenating Body, Mind, and Spirit,” a weekend of renewal October 9-10 at University of Southern Indiana. Trained as both a medical scientist and psychologist, Dr. Joan Borysenko has established herself in the fields of behavioral medicine, stress and well-being, psychoneuroimmunology, women’s health, creativity, and the great spiritual traditions of the world. She completed her doctorate in medical sciences at Harvard Medical School, is a licensed psychologist, and is cofounder and former director of the Mind-Body clinical programs at two Harvard Medical School teaching hospitals. She is the author of nine books, including the New York Times bestseller, Minding the Body, Mending the Mind; A Woman’s Journey to God; Inner Peace for Busy People; and Inner Peace for Busy Women. The weekend’s featured topics will include inner peace and finding your center; the art of body-based inquiry, intuition and guidance, the nature of healing, practical spirituality, living from essence, emotions as inner guidance, mindfulness, the art of meditation, dealing with uncertainty, and the bodymind as a system of energy. “Refilling the Chalice” will be held from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. October 9 and from 9 a.m. to noon October 10 in Mitchell Auditorium in the Health Professions Center on the USI campus. Registration is $125 until September 24, $150 thereafter. Continuing education credit is available.
