Success Series Workshops
|
As a student, if you don’t know what a quality point is, you don’t know how to calculate your grade point average (GPA). A GPA is a system for scoring student achievement showing numerical academic standing. GPAs are given every semester ranging from 0.00 to 4.00. You can learn to calculate your collegiate GPA at 9 a.m. on Tuesday, October 12 in ED1102. The workshop will be presented by Renee Rowland, University Division advisor. She encourages you to bring a friend with you who also wants to learn to calculate his/her GPA. Comma Sense, a workshop to help would-be writers learn why commas are essential for effective writing, will be offered at 9:30 a.m. on October 7 in Education Center Rm 1102. Judy Luther, the coordinator of Academic Skills, will lead the half-hour workshop. A second workshop on the same topic will be offered at 3 p.m. on October 13 in ED1102. A workshop to learn how impressive you are will be conducted at 9 a.m. on October 20 in ED1103. This workshop, called the 250 Rule, will help you gain insight on how to develop your lasting impression. If you think you are just “a fly on the wall”, think again. Pat Flake, supplemental instruction specialist, will conduct the workshop. All workshops are open to faculty and staff at no cost. To attend, arrive at the scheduled room at the advertised time. The Success Series workshops are sponsored by Academic Skills. |
