International Education Month in November

Guest speakers, a theatrical production, lunch and learn programs, a gift sale, and many other activities fill USI’s THREADS International Education Month. Events begin Monday, November 1, 2004. The International Education Month calendar follows. Programs are free and open to the public, unless otherwise noted. November 1 – Community Builders Voter Jeopardy, 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., University Center. An interactive game covering the Bush and Kerry platforms. Community Builders is a program of the Multicultural Center. For more information, call 812/465-7188. November 2 – Election Night ’04, 8 to 11 p.m., Health Professions Center, Room 1002. Share the suspense, snacks, and commentary. Sponsors: Political Science Society and Pre-Law Club. Information: 812/461-5207. November 3 – Global Community International Fun Night, 7:30 p.m., Ruston Hall, lounge. Sponsor: International Programs and Services. Information: 812/465-7183. November 10 – Morocco and Spain Lunch and Learn, noon to 1 p.m., University Center, Carter Hall. Featuring Dr. Margaret Skoglund, associate professor of art. Sponsor: the Multicultural Center. Information: 812/465-7188. November 12 – International Club Outing to Germania Mannerchor, 6 p.m. German meal and polka dancing lessons with music by the Rheinland Valley Band. A high-energy performance by an African singing, dancing, and drumming group from Kenya. Sale highlights fair trade practices, supports the local communities where the items are made, raises awareness about worldwide economic and social injustices, and provides opportunities for artisans around the world to share their handmade crafts. November 19 – United Nations Children’s Day: International and education students will share information about their cultures with children in local schools. Information: 812/465-7183. All month – Screaming Eagle TV will feature movies with international themes. December 1 – Global Community’s Italian Night, 7:30 p.m., Ruston Hall, lounge.
