Madrigal Feaste
The University of Southern Indiana Madrigal Ensemble will present the 35th Annual Madrigal Feaste in the University Center’s Carter Hall from December 2 to December 5. Curtain is 7:30 p.m. on Thursday through Saturday, and 6 p.m. on Sunday. The USI Madrigal Feaste is a reenactment of a renaissance royal feast. The evening is a scripted event with processionals and music accompanying each item on the menu. This is USI’s oldest musical tradition, a festive way to begin the holiday season. This year’s feaste is set in Renaissance Ireland. The USI Chamber Choir will entertain with selections of old English Madrigals, Irish traditional folk songs and carols, as well as choral selections for the holiday season from a wide variety of European repertory. This year’s menu will include green tossed salad, hot wassail (spiced cider), soup of beef and barley, his majesty’s roasted chicken, holiday roasted potatoes, and fresh steamed vegetables, bread pudding with rum sauce, tea and coffee. Ticket prices are $28 for adults and $25 for students and senior citizens and may be reserved by calling 812/461-5237. Tickets may also be ordered online by clicking here. |
