New site for USI fall off-campus classes
|
Evening off-campus courses will be offered at the National Guard Armory beginning fall of 2005. The location at Vann Avenue and the Lloyd Expressway will be a convenient location for residents who live or work in Warrick County and Evansville’s eastside and want to attend USI classes in the evening. The off-campus classes, taught by the same faculty who teach on campus, will be introductory and core curriculum classes in programs in business, education, liberal arts, and science. Off-campus courses tend to be smaller classes offered in a relaxed atmosphere. Larry Bohleber of the Extended Services staff and lecturer in Liberal Arts, will teach an introductory sociology class, as he has for the off-campus programs for many years. He is a consultant with local corporations on management and employee development issues. William Pierrot, instructor in marketing, will teach Marketing 201, an introduction into the basic principles of marketing. He expects a mix of adult and traditional-age students that will lead to interesting class interaction. He will use practical examples from current commercials to new products on retail shelves to identify marketing concepts and trigger discussion. The off-campus class schedule includes an introductory education class, EDUC-196 Foundations of Reflective Teaching. It is open for majors in education. Major Mark Weaver, the former USI ROTC officer who is now serving as the manager of the Armory’s operations, will teach an Environmental Conservation class. This fall class filled during early registration. Off-campus courses will continue to be offered at Castle High School in the fall. The fall semester classes begin August 29, 2005. Information about the off-campus courses is available by calling Lee Ann Shafer in USI Extended Services at 812/464-1879. |
