SEA students gain state-level offices
|
Two members of the USI chapter of the Student Education Association were elected to state office at the organization’s Representative Assembly meeting this spring in Indianapolis. Misty Freeman of Evansville was elected state vice president, and Krystle Roudebush of Solsberry, Indiana, was named Region IV representative. Freeman is president of the USI chapter for 2005. She is the granddaughter of Dr. Janet V. Freeman, USI professor emerita of education and former SEA sponsor. Roudebush, USI SEA vice president for 2005, also is a member of the state committee for Outreach to Teach, a project in which SEA members statewide collaborated to brighten Lyons Elementary School in Lyons, Indiana, by painting, landscaping, and improving school signs. Twenty-five USI SEA members volunteered for the initiative, the first of its kind in Indiana. The work day was held in April. Also at the Representative Assembly, Katie Hills of Evansville was awarded a scholarship by the state organization. She was 2004 secretary at the state level and 2004 vice president of the USI chapter. Freeman and Hills will attend the Student Leadership Conference at the National Education Association meeting in Los Angeles, California, July 1-6. They are two of four Indiana students attending the meeting. The others schools represented will be University of Evansville and Ball State University. |
