The legendary southern gospel quartet, The Florida Boys, will perform at 2 p.m. Sunday, June 26, at Lincoln Amphitheatre, as a special Rising Star Promotions presentation for the Live at Lincoln Amphitheatre concert series.

The Florida Boys have been entertaining and inspiring listeners for more than 50 years with number one hits such as “Standing on the Solid Rock,” “When He was on the Cross, I was on His Mind,” Lead Me to the Altar,” and “I Lean on You Lord.”

Les Beasley, lead singer and manager, says the group’s commitment to its calling is at the heart of its success. “We sincerely believe we are doing what we were put on earth to do,” he said. “We want our audiences to have a good time but it’s most important that they hear the message in each song.”

The Florida Boys also include Glen Allred (baritone and guitar), Derrell Stewart (piano), Gene McDonald (bass), Harold Reed (tenor), and Josh Garner (lead). The group was founded in 1947 as the Gospel Melody Quartet, led by J.G. Whitfield. They have recorded some 100 albums.

Members of the Gospel Music Association Hall Of Fame, The Florida Boys have appeared on “The Today Show,” “TNN's Prime Time Country,” “Crooke & Chase,” and “Gaither Homecoming Videos.”

In 1964, they became the first gospel group to have a nationally syndicated television program, “The Gospel Singing Jubilee.” Produced by Beasley, the program garnered a number of Dove Awards for Best Gospel Singing Program, as well as the attention of many in the industry.

The group remains vibrant, performing over 250 concerts each year.

Tickets are $20. For tickets, call the Lincoln Amphitheatre box office at 800/264-4ABE (4223) or go to www.lincoln-amphitheatre.com. Lincoln State Park is located in Lincoln City, Indiana.

The Live at Lincoln Amphitheatre concert series is produced by the University of Southern Indiana.
