“USI Today and Tomorrow” to be Westside Improvement’s August program

University of Southern Indiana will be the featured topic when the Westside Improvement Association assembles for its general membership meeting at 7 p.m. on Thursday, August 18 in Mitchell Auditorium in the Health Professions Center on the USI campus. The public is invited to attend. Sherrianne Standley, USI vice president for Advancement, and Mark Rozewski, USI vice president for Business Affairs, will talk about “USI Today and Tomorrow.” The University is celebrating its 40th anniversary this fall. The University has a student enrollment of 10,000, with all of Indiana’s 92 counties represented among the students. Over 70 majors are offered in five colleges, and 10 graduate programs are offered. USI alumni number 22,000 graduates, with a majority staying in the Tri-State area. The vice presidents will talk about the addition of new buildings in this decade including the Liberal Arts Center in 1999, the Recreation and Fitness Center in 2001, the Education Center and Torrington Wing of the Science Center in 2003, and four residence halls. The new Rice Library, now under construction, is expected to open in 2006. Other topics will include academic programs recently approved, the enthusiastic support the University receives from the community, and the University’s role in economic development for the area. A business meeting will follow the presentation. Visitors are welcome to stay for the meeting. |
