"Building Better Health": Employee and Student Wellness Fair
|
The Employee and Student Wellness Fair will be held from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Wednesday, October 12, in Carter Hall in the University Center. Students, faculty, and staff can take advantage of free health screenings, including vision and hearing tests and blood pressure and cholesterol checks. There also will be body composition screenings and health risk appraisals. As in the past, the College of Nursing and Health Professions will offer reflexology, massage, and healing touch therapy. Six areas within the College of Nursing and Health Professions will participate. The David L. Rice Library will exhibit wellness materials from its collection. The Physical Education Department, Student Wellness, and the Recreation and Fitness Center also will participate. “There will be many different types of exhibitors and vendors promoting their services, said Jeannie Kuebler, administrative assistant in Student Wellness. “The Student Wellness office will pass out small houseplants, because plants are a part of wellness. We usually pass out about 300 of them.” Community exhibitors attending the fair include the Evansville Cancer Center, Deaconess Concern, Deaconess Resource Center for Healthy Living, March of Dimes, United Way, Red Cross, Vanderburgh County Health Department, Albion Fellows Bacon Center, Matthew 25 AIDS services, and the YWCA. A variety of door prizes and snacks will be offered. For more information, contact Kuebler at 812/464-1807 or Michelle Davis, benefits supervisor in Human Resources, at 812/464-1781. |
