Join the USI Speakers Bureau and Experts Guide
|
News and Information Services requests your participation in the 2005-06 USI Speakers Bureau and the USI Experts Guide. The Speakers Bureau is a resource that local organizations use when they are looking for programs for their members, and is posted on the Internet at www.usi.edu/newsinfo/speakers. Copies also are mailed to persons requesting Speakers Bureau information. Representatives from a requesting group make their own arrangements with the speakers who are listed. If the request comes at a time when you have other commitments, you may decline an invitation to speak. Fees are not charged by speakers in the USI Speakers Bureau. You can join by completing and submitting the online information form by November 22, 2005. The online listing will be updated as forms come in. The Experts Guide is a reference used by local and regional media as they report and analyze news. The guide lists faculty and administrators who are willing to serve as experts to the media along with topics on which they will comment. USI has a variety of experts whose insight is of value to the media and the public. Regional and local reporters in print and broadcast media refer to this list to gather opinions, quotes, or background information for stories. Often reporters look to the USI faculty to provide insight, historical background, or informed reaction to issues that will receive coverage. When reporters are asked to add the local angle to a national story, this listing can help them to quickly find local experts. The Experts Guide is posted on the Internet at www.usi.edu/newsinfo/experts and also is distributed to print and broadcast media. You can join the Experts Guide by completing and submitting the online information form by November 22, 2005. The online guide will be updated as the online forms are submitted. You can review both documents on the Web to get an idea of the types of entries used. If you have not been a participant in the past, we hope that you will consider adding your areas of expertise to one or both publications. New faculty and administrators are encouraged to join lists for one or both publications.
