University Core Council accepting H. Lee Cooper Award nominations
|
The University Core Council is accepting nominations for the sixth annual H. Lee Cooper Core Curriculum Teaching Award honoring a faculty member whose work in University Core courses has been especially creative and successful in furthering UCC goals. The award focuses exclusively on teaching within the Core. Nominations may be made by members of the USI teaching faculty, full-time or adjunct. All such faculty are eligible to nominate colleagues, but the nominees themselves must be members of the Core teaching faculty, either full-time or adjunct. Students are encouraged to petition department chairs or other faculty to recommend the nomination of candidates they deem worthy. Self-nominations are not allowed. The University Core Council may select one recipient each year, though it is not bound to select a recipient every year. Electronic copies of the guidelines and nomination form are on the O drive in the “University Core Curriculum” folder. For a hard copy of these materials, contact John Gottcent, University Core director, at extension 1750, or your UCC Council representative. UCC Council representatives include Brian McGuire, College of Business; Guoyuan Huang, Bower-Suhrheinrich College of Education and Human Services; Cindy Goodwin, College of Nursing and Health Professions; Kristina Hochwender and Margaret Skoglund, College of Liberal Arts; and Shadow Robinson and Jim Bandoli, Pott College of Science and Engineering. Nominations must be returned to your representative or to Gottcent by Friday, March 17. The award includes a generous stipend, a plaque, and additional monies for travel and faculty development. The winner will be announced before the end of the spring semester, with the plaque and stipend officially presented at the Fall Faculty and Administrative Staff Meeting in August. The 2005 winner was Susan Smith Wolfe. Previous winners were Eric von Fuhrmann, Augustine J. “Jay” Fredrich, Hilary Braysmith, and Craig McCarron. |
