International Week 2006 culminates with popular Food Expo
International Programs and Services’ International Week 2006 kicks off Monday, February 20, and ends Friday, February 24, with the popular International Club Food Expo, which offers the opportunity to sample a wide variety of food from club members’ home countries.Here’s the schedule of events: Monday, February 20 Study Abroad Information Session, 3:30-4:30 p.m., University Center Room 206. Heidi Gregori-Gahan, director of International Programs and Services, and Kristine Meier, program coordinator, will share information about all of the possibilities of study abroad available through USI. Where in the World Trivia Contest, through Thursday, February 23. Test your knowledge of sites around the world by guessing in what country pictures were taken and drop your answer at the International Office. Winning answers will get a chance at winning a $25 gift certificate. Clues will be located in the University Center, Orr Center, Liberal Arts Center, and Ruston Hall. Tuesday, February 21 Lunch and Learn with Dr. Margaret Skoglund, noon to 1 p.m., University Center Room 206. Skoglund will share stories and slides from USI Travel Study Programs she’s led to Italy, Spain, and Greece. Light refreshments will be served. Wednesday, February 22 Voices of Africa, 7-9 p.m., Carter Hall D, University Center. Voices of Africa is a Philadelphia-based group of women who perform song, dance, and percussion in West African and Caribbean style. The program is entertaining and informative, with discussion of the culture, history, and origin of their performances. A reception will be held following the program, which is in celebration of International Week and Black History Month. Sponsored by International Programs and Services, the Multicultural Center, Activities Programming Board, Recreation, Fitness, and Wellness, Student Development, and the Office of the Vice President for Student Affairs. Friday, February 24 International Club Food Expo, 10:30 a.m.-2 p.m., Carter Hall, University Center. Tickets: $7 in advance; $10 at the door; $5 children 6-12; 5 and under free. Sample food from Afghanistan, India, the United Kingdom, South Africa, Lebanon, China, and other home countries of USI International Club members.
