Blaylock is highest ranked undergraduate in musical theatre competition
Junior Kensington Blaylock finished in third place in a musical theatre competition sponsored by the National Society of Arts and Letters (NSAL). She was the highest ranking undergraduate student in the competition and earned the $500 Caldwell Merit Award. Blaylock prepared a five-minute package including a monologue from "Tough Love" by Nancy Bagshaw and renditions of "One Hand One Heart" from "West Side Story" and "When You Got It Flaunt It" from "The Producers." At USI, Blaylock is majoring in theatre and is a member of Alpha Psi Omega, a national dramatic honor fraternity. She is a graduate of Signature School and is the daughter of Jeremy and Lynn Wilcox. The Indiana chapter of NSAL is located in Bloomington, Indiana, and the competition is open to young artists going to school or living in Indiana. John Berst, instructor in theatre at USI, was invited to enter musical theatre students into the NSAL Musical Theatre Competition held in Bloomington in January. Other USI students who participated in the competition are Brent Bredhold, Katelyn Farmer, Jeannine Gamble, Paige Scott, and Dustin Williams. |
