USI Spanish course specifically designed for law enforcement

USI Extended Services is offering “Focused Spanish for Law Enforcement,” an informal, yet highly effective approach to a working knowledge of spoken Spanish, specifically designed for English-speaking law enforcement professionals whose duties bring them into contact with those who speak Spanish. Upon completion of the course, participants who attended all sessions will be able to use Spanish to disarm a suspect, make arrests, identify individuals, stop and search a vehicle, conduct field sobriety tests, issue warrants, assist in emergencies, read the Miranda Warning, render aid to victims, and manage prisoners and bystanders. Municipal police officers, sheriff’s deputies, state police officers, federal agents, campus security officers, private security guards, investigators, and criminal justice students could benefit from a working knowledge of Spanish would find the course very useful. The course will be offered from 6 to 8 p.m. on six Wednesdays, February 22-March 29. The registration fee is $69. For more information, contact USI Extended Services at 812/464-1989. |
