SpringFest 2006 features six bands and much more
 SpringFest 2006, Friday and Saturday, April 7-8, is gearing up to be one lollapalooza of a music festival, with six concerts in two days. In addition, this year’s SpringFest will feature the third annual USIdol competition and a car and truck show. The semifinals of the third annual USIdol competition will begin in the Physical Activities Center at 6 p.m. Friday. USI students will show off their singing talents in an effort to make it to the finals on Saturday night where three participants will share a $500 cash prize. Admission to the competition is free. Performances by Under Shade and Floord will begin at 7:30 p.m. Friday in the Physical Activities Center. Ticket prices are $5 for students and $10 for the general public. On Saturday, the fifth annual Screaming Eagles Car and Truck show will take place in lot C from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Events include a performance by local bluegrass band Highway 41 and a visit from the Evansville Bluecats Cheerleaders. Admission is free. There also will be a three-on-three basketball tournament from noon to 4 p.m. at the outdoor basketball courts. The USIdol finals will be held in the Physical Activities Center starting at 6 p.m., followed with performances by Redflecks, Detail, and The Loft. Tickets for the live performances are $5 for students and $10 for the general public. Admission to the USIdol finals is free. Tickets will go on sale Monday, March 20 under the University Center Bridge and in the Orr Center Room 1005. Advanced sale block seating for organizations can be arranged. Discounts are available for groups of 20 or more. A combo ticket, which includes a free SpringFest T-shirt, will be available to students for $8 and $16 for the general public.
