Art instructor’s work on display in New Harmony
|
The New Harmony Gallery of Contemporary Art presents “Signs of Migration” by Jason Baldwin, instructor in art, through May 14. “Signs of Migration” focuses on Baldwin’s evolution; he explores both his present condition and his location through cherished childhood mementos. He combines them with items from his recent move to Evansville and asks “where did I come from and where am I going?” His work in the exhibition layers old and new imagery in a random order, creating a visual link to the past that shapes his present. Baldwin earned his Master of Fine Art degree in painting at the University of Mississippi and his Bachelor of Fine Art degree in painting at the University of Louisiana at Lafayette. He has had exhibitions in Mississippi, Texas, Pennsylvania, and Louisiana. This is his first show in the region. The New Harmony Gallery of Contemporary Art is located at 506 Main Street in New Harmony, Indiana, and is open Tuesday through Saturday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sunday from noon to 4 p.m. For more information call 812/682-3156. |
