USI set to host summer athletic camps

USI will offer summer athletic camps for seven sports beginning May 30. Children can sign up for camps in boys and girls basketball, cross country, and soccer; and girls volleyball. Boys Basketball: The Rick Herdes basketball camps begin with a pair of day camps for boy ages 6-10 and 11-16 May 30-June 7. The first day camp will be May 30-June 2, while the second will be June 5-7. The camp fee is $100. The day camps are followed by an Individual Overnight Camp, June 9-11, and a pair of Varsity/Junior Varsity Team Camps, June 16-18 and July 14-16. The individual camp fee is $150, while the team camp fee is $135 for commuters and $200 for overnight campers. The final boys basketball camp of the summer is the Middle School Team Camp July 23-25. The camp fee is $150 for commuters and $200 for overnight campers. Girls Basketball: The Rick Stein basketball camps begin with a pair of Shooting Camps for grades 6-12 on June 3. The first camp, which will be 9 a.m.-noon, is for perimeter skills and three-point shooting, while the second camp, which will be 1 p.m.-4 p.m., is for inside skills and post shooting. The fee for each camp is $35. The girls basketball day camp for grades 1-5 is June 12-15 for a price of $80. The Stein camps feature an Overnight/Commuter Camp for grades 6-12 on June 18-22, while a High School Team Camp runs from June 23-25. The camp fee for the Overnight/Commuter Camp is $160 for commuters and $235 for overnighters, while the fee for the team camp is $295 per team. Volleyball: Three Southern Indiana volleyball camps for girls begin at the end of June with a pair of camps June 26-28. The Elementary School Skills Camp will run from 9 a.m.-noon, while the Middle School Skills Camp is from 1 p.m.-4 p.m. The fee for each camp is $90. The final volleyball camp is a high school skills camp July 7-9. The fee for the camp is $135 for commuters and $200 for overnight campers. Both the boys and girls basketball camps, as well as the volleyball camps, will be held in the newly renovated USI Physical Activities Center. Boys and Girls Soccer: Two Southern Indiana soccer camps for boys and girls will be held May 30-June 2 and July10-13 for ages 5-17. The charge for each camp is $70 for morning only campers and $130 for all-day campers. Boys and Girls Cross Country: The Screaming Eagles All-American cross country camp will be held July 18-22 for runners in grades 7-12.
