ADA-Indiana marks anniversary of the Americans with Disabilities Act
|
ADA-Indiana will mark the 16th anniversary of the signage of the Americans with Disabilities Act with an audio conference focusing on the ongoing efforts of federal agencies to enforce the rights of individuals with disabilities since its signage in 1990. Both the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission and the U.S. Department of Justice are actively engaged in enforcing the ADA through education, as well as through settlement and litigation. Guest speakers John Wodatch from the Department of Justice and Sharon Rennert from the EEOC will provide an update regarding federal initiatives including technical assistance efforts and targeted enforcement activities. The audio conference will be held from 1 to 2:30 p.m. Tuesday, July 18, in the Science Center, Room 1212 (SC 1212), at USI. It would be of interest to facility managers, hospitality service providers, event planners, people with disabilities, and other interested community members. For more information or to request accommodation, contact Gary May, director of the USI/Epi-Hab Center for Disability Studies, at 812/465-1694or email gmay@usi.edu. |
