Security Alert for USI students
|
On Tuesday morning at approximately 11 a.m. a female USI student was followed from the on ramp onto State Road 62 to the shopping area on Pearl Drive by an older style, purple Chevrolet Camero. She saw a white male waving his hands out the top of the T-tops motioning her to pull over. The male held up a wallet as if he was showing a badge, but she said she never saw one. There were no emergency lights. She said this continued to Boehne Camp Road and then onto Pearl Drive. On Pearl Drive, the male pulled up beside her in the turn lane and continued to try and stop her. She stopped her car in a parking lot, and the male got out screaming at her that he was an off duty trooper and she should stop when told. The male got her out of her car and handcuffed her behind the back. She became hysterical when he told her she was under arrest and tried to place her in his car. She asked to see a badge and for his name. He didn’t provide either and told her not to worry about it. She persisted and he made her sit in her car instead of trying to get her in his. He took her license and asked her if her address was current. She said no, that she was a student at USI. He told her she was going to get a warning and uncuffed her. He then took off on Pearl Drive towards WalMart. She was unable to get a license plate number, but was sure they were Indiana plates. Suspect Description: White male, 5’10” to 6’00” tall, 200 lbs, late 30’s with long shaggy hair (front was combed down to his eyebrows), and described as having buggy eyes. Vehicle Description: Older, beat up purple Chevrolet Camero with T-tops and Indiana plates. The windows are not tinted. If you see this vehicle or have information, contact the Security Department at ext. 1845, or the Indiana State Police at 867-2079. |
