Motivational speaker Andres Lara, “The Cuban Guy,” will speak to USI employees and students on Tuesday, October 24. Lara escaped from Cuba to the United States at the age of 16. Alone, homeless, and unable to speak English, he was able to reverse his fortunes and, according to his Web site, become a millionaire by his early 20s. He is the author of "Inspire The Sleeping Giant Within" and "How To Stay Motivated During Difficult Times." Lara will present a session entitled, “How to Fall in Love with Your Job when You Feel Like Hating It” for faculty and staff from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m. in the University Center Rooms 201-202. Seating for the employee session is limited, so make reservations by calling the Multicultural Center at 812/465-7188. That evening, Lara will offer a program for students, “How to Move Forward When You Feel Like Quitting: Being Unstoppable” at 7 p.m. in Carter Hall in the University Center. Lara’s visit to USI is sponsored by THREADS, the University’s diversity initiative. |
