Science and engineering fair has a title sponsor
|
The Pott Foundation has agreed to be the title sponsor for the science and engineering fair planned at USI in March. The Pott Foundation Tri-State Science and Engineering Fair will be held March 6-7 for students in grades six through 12 from schools within a 75-mile radius of Evansville. Dr. Scott Gordon, dean of the Pott College of Science and Engineering, said, “We are grateful to the Pott Foundation for agreeing to be the title sponsor of the science and engineering fair. This event will be the largest celebration of science in the Tri-state, and it will offer an exciting opportunity for students to display their research projects and receive recognition for their work.” The science and engineering fair will serve as the qualifier for the state and international science and engineering fair (this year in Albuquerque, New Mexico). Awards will include six $1,500 renewable USI scholarships in the senior division, cash awards, and plaques for winners. In addition, cash awards will go to classrooms with the most participants at the junior and senior divisions, and cash awards will go to the classrooms of the winners. Other awards will be announced later. Persons who want to offer an award or assist in sponsorship can call Gordon at 812/465-7137. The University of Evansville discontinued its longtime administrative sponsorship of the fair in July but will continue to support both the regional and state events through scholarships and assistance in judging. |
