The Office of Student Development Programs is accepting applications for the 2007 AMIGOs, a group of highly motivated, involved student leaders who assist with the Orientation and Welcome Week programs.

Student Development Programs seeks the help of USI faculty and staff in identifying great students who would be good role models for new students and who would represent the best and brightest of USI’s student body. Each student recommended will receive a letter letting them know of the nomination and inviting them to apply to be an AMIGO.

Also as part of the application process, students are required to turn in a recommendation form from a faculty or staff member. If you nominate a student for the AMIGO position, be prepared for that student to ask you to complete a recommendation form if they choose to apply to be an AMIGO.

When nominating students, please keep in mind the following qualifications that are required of each AMIGO:

• Maintain at least a 2.5 cumulative grade point average throughout employment as an AMIGO
• Must not be graduating in May 2007.
• Be reliable, responsible, friendly, and flexible
• Possess good communication skills
• Enjoy working with people and display a willingness to approach and help others
• Demonstrate a desire to learn about the University of Southern Indiana, its history, its policies, its people, and its programs

If you know of students who would be ideal AMIGOs, please send their names and if possible, any other identifying information such as student ID number, major, hometown, etc., to David Duvall, assistant director of Student Development Programs.

AMIGO applications are available in the Office of Student Development Programs, University Center, Room 015, or online at www.usi.edu/sdv. Applications are due November 10.
