Five to be honored at fall retirement reception

Five long-time members of the USI faculty/staff will be honored during a fall retirement reception at 3 p.m. Thursday, November 16, in Couch-Renner Auditorium, Education Center, Room 1101. USI President H. Ray Hoops said, “The faculty and administrators who are retiring this year have made significant contributions to the development of the University, its curriculum, and its standing in the region. They will be missed, but we wish them well and invite them to continue to be active in the life of the University.” Retirees to be honored are: Dr. Charles Barber, professor of political science, who joined the University in 1971. He holds a Ph.D. from The American University. Ruth Hahn, access services librarian, assistant librarian, who joined the University in 1973. She holds a Master of Library Science degree from Indiana University. Dr. Robert Mays, associate dean of the Bower-Suhrheinrich College of Education and Human Services and professor of education, who joined the University in 1973. He holds an Ed.D. from Indiana University. Dr. C. Thomas Pickering, dean of the Bower-Suhrheinrich College of Education and Human Services and professor of education, who joined the University in 1988. He holds a Ph.D. from Ohio University. Dr. C. William Stegemoller, associate professor of mathematics, who joined the University in 1978. He holds a Doctor of Arts degree from Idaho State University.
