“The Future of Food” film to be shown
|
The USI Philosophy Club and the Urban Sisterhood, an urban gardening nonprofit group, are cosponsoring a viewing of the documentary “The Future of Food” at the University of Southern Indiana on Wednesday, November 29. The film offers an in-depth investigation into the disturbing truth behind the unlabeled, patented, genetically engineered foods that have quietly filled U.S. grocery store shelves for the past decade. The film will be shown at 6 p.m. in Room 17 in the lower level of Rice Library and will be followed by a discussion led by the USI Philosophy Club. Audience members are encouraged to share their reactions and insights on the implications of genetic engineering of food on human health and local economies. Discussion will focus upon the moral implications of genetically engineered crops for farmers, the environment, and local communities. Fair trade coffee and refreshments will be provided by Penny Lane Coffeehouse. For more information, contact Jessica Krieg at jlkrieg@usieagles.org or Dr. Mary Lyn Stoll at stollml@usi.edu. |
