Holiday Sing celebrates the season multilingually
|
Foreign Language students will sing holiday songs from a variety of cultures and traditions during the annual Holiday Sing, at 3:30 p.m. Wednesday, December 6, in Forum I in the Wright Administration Building. Dr. Suzi Wolfe, associate professor of German, said all USI students taking a foreign language are invited to participate. "Ordinarily we have over 200 students singing Christmas carols, a Channakuh song, Japanese snow season songs, and Latin songs," she said. Students of all levels in French, German, Latin, Japanese and Spanish participate and each language group sings three songs. At the conclusion of the program, students will sing the first verse of "Silent Night" in each of the five languages, followed by a final singing of the carol in English by all in attendance. Canned goods and monetary donations for local agencies and shelters will be accepted during the program. Beverages will be served. For more information, contact Wolfe at 812/465-7026. |
