Start the semester right with Success Series Workshops
|
USI Academic Skills offers academic support for students, faculty, and staff. Take advantage of the Success Series Workshops and start the semester off right. All workshops are free and will be held in ED 1103. Time Management Get your semester off to a great start by learning the tips and techniques of time management that successful students and teachers already know. Learn the value of assessing needs by self-monitoring, delaying gratification and self-rewarding. Do yourself a favor and attend this workshop! Presented by Patty Beagle, instructor, 4-4:30 p.m. Wednesday, January 17 or noon-12:30 p.m. Thursday, January 18. A Formula for Textbook Reading Success Reading a textbook the same way you read a newspaper or novel just doesn’t work. This workshop will present an effective, easy-to-use method for comprehending and retaining textbook information. It works because it makes you think about what you’re reading. Bring a current textbook with you to practice this textbook reading strategy! Presented by Lori Saxby, reading specialist, 4-4:30 p.m. Wednesday, January 24, and 3-3:30 p.m. Thursday, January 25. Don’t Delay!: Anti-Procrastination Techniques Do you put things off? Do you review your iTunes playlist rather than reviewing your lecture notes? When you have a test to study for, does your refrigerator suddenly need cleaning out? If you procrastinate, this session will give you techniques for prioritizing and completing your academic workload. Presented by Deanna Odney, writing specialist, 4-4:30 p.m. Monday, January 29, and 1-1:30 p.m. Tuesday, January 30. No registration is necessary. For more information, contact Lori Saxby at 812/ 464-1743. |
