University of Southern Indiana’s Multicultural Center, the Evansville Branch of the American Association of University Women, and Old National Bank present the 2007 Phenomenal Women of USI and the Community program to honor women who promote diversity at USI and in the community. Nominations are being accepted through February 1, 2007.

Nominations are sought from USI students, faculty, staff, and community members who wish to recognize outstanding women they know and respect. For this recognition, diversity is defined as the differences and similarities among groups of people and individuals based on race, ethnicity, socioeconomic status, gender, language, abilities, religion, and sexual orientation.

Women will be recognized from six categories: graduate student, undergraduate student, faculty member, one member of the administrative staff and one member of the support staff, plus three women from the community.

Student nominees must have a 2.25 cumulative grade point average, be currently enrolled at USI, serve as a role model for other USI students, and be a champion for diversity.

Employees and the women in the community must show a demonstrated impact on the lives of others at USI or in the community, serve as a role model for others at USI or in the community, and be a champion for diversity.

The form asks for information about the nominee plus 500 words or less about the contributions of the nominee whose service helps development of a more culturally diverse campus community and community-at-large.

Those nominating a person will explain how the nominee has excelled, what group(s) has been impacted by the nominee’s work, and what other recognition the nominee has received for her work.

An online nomination form can be found on the Web at www.usi.edu/phenomenalwomen/nominationform.asp. You may also email nominations to accalbert@usi.edu, fax to 812/461-5287, or mail to University of Southern Indiana, Multicultural Center, 8600 University Boulevard, Evansville, Indiana 47712.

For more information, call the USI Multicultural Center at 812/465-7188.

The Recognition Ceremony will be held at 6 p.m. Thursday, March 15, 2007, in Carter Hall in the University Center on the University of Southern Indiana campus.
