Liberal Arts alumnus to discuss journey from student to professional
|
Kim Kurdelak, a 1996 USI graduate with a bachelor’s degree in art, will present the 2007 College of Liberal Arts Alumni in Residence lecture, “Journey to Now: Human Being vs. Human Doing,” at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, March 20, in Kleymeyer Hall in the Liberal Arts Center. Kurdelak has a background in fine arts and a long-standing interest in figurative work. She is currently employed as creative director at Promar, a graphic design agency in San Diego, California; maintains a fine art practice in her home studio; and practices yoga every day. Her talk, which will include a visual presentation, connects what has happened between then and now - from the idealism of a studio art major to the reality of working in the field of graphic design. She will discuss her journey, the rewards and drawbacks of the design profession, and how she has learned to find a balance between that career and doing her own creative artwork. For more information, call the Art Department at 812/464-7014. |
