Public invited to view science fair exhibits

The general public is invited to view more than 450 student projects in the Pott Foundation Tri-State Science and Engineering Fair from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Wednesday, March 7 in Carter Hall and the University Conference Center in the University Center at USI. This is the first year the fair is being held at USI. The event is the 58th year for the Tri-State Science and Engineering Fair. It has been held at the University of Evansville in recent years. Students from area middle schools and high schools within a 75-mile radius of Evansville were eligible to participate in the fair. Judging of the fair will take place between 6 and 7:30 p.m. on March 6. Students will be setting up projects throughout the day on March 6 beginning at 10 a.m. The Food Court in the University Center will be open for participants and volunteers. USI students will be on spring break that week. USI students who are members of various student groups in the Pott College of Science and Engineering will help with the program and USI admission counselors will be available to give tours of campus for interested high school students and their parents during the judging session. A total of $1,460 worth of local awards and six $1,500 USI scholarships will be presented during the awards ceremony to be held at 7 p.m. in Mitchell Auditorium on March 7. In addition to scholarships and cash, other awards include certificates, medallions, and laptops. Dr. Scott Gordon, dean of the Pott College of Science and Engineering, will be emcee for the awards ceremony. The fair is sponsored by the Pott Foundation and the Pott College of Science and Engineering. |
